9000 Dimensions is a memo on the future. I write about what’s changing across culture and technology: from the latest trending microgenres on Steam to the bleeding edge of AI-native content creation.

Through data-driven analysis and insights, I explore games, AI, entertainment, and digital platforms. My goal is to help creators, builders, and observers understand the structural forces shaping these markets and why certain things break through while others don’t.

I’m a generalist who has spent the past 15 years making things across mediums. I ran a music venue, started record labels, freelanced as a web developer, led teams building large-scale art installations, consulted for foreign governments on art and technology, created VR experiences, founded a startup making virtual production tools, and released a game on Steam.

In life, the challenge is not so much how best to play the game, the challenge is to figure out what game you’re playing. -Kwame Appiah

Why is it called 9000 Dimensions?

9000 Dimensions is named after the early 2000s meme, “Over 9000”, originally sourced from an episode of Dragon Ball Z. The name reflects a belief that the future will not be constrained by two dimensions or three dimensions, but will far exceed over nine thousand dimensions.
